Neck of the Woods - Case Study

Why Neck of the Woods was Created
For my second UX design case study, I created "Neck of the Woods," an app and website that brings together local business, arts, government, and community calendars into one accessible platform. The goal of the app is to inspire community engagement and foster mutual aid by providing a central hub for residents to stay informed and get involved in local events and initiatives. By making it easier for people to connect, "Neck of the Woods" aims to strengthen community ties and encourage active participation in building a more connected neighborhood.
Design Framework
01
The Problem
There is not a single local app or website that lays out the community calendars and notifies the community of events, businesses and government meetings.
The Goal
To create a cohesive and user friendly app that combines all the local social calendars, along with government, that also connects local businesses and artists and encourages community building.
02
The Research
Extensive research was done on social media, community building, and competitive audits. User personas and journeys were also imperative to creating an inclusive app.
